- Connecting with people I would never have met otherwise, in other states and other countries, and sometimes in towns just south of me.
- An opportunity to share my life with others through writing.
- And the chance to share in other's amazing creativity and talent. And it is amazing.
- Figuring out another way to get out of my shell/hibernation ways.
- Finding I can say what I need, and every once in a while, someone else needs to hear exactly that.
- Challenges like Blogtoberfest that keep me honest. (I am one third through!)
- Booty!
Look what Kate sent me. She say there is more hollyhock seeds than any sane woman would need. Kate doesn't know how close to the brink I teeter! These are the old-fashioned kind, big and tall, the kind I remember from my grandma's gardens (or was it Aunt Ruth's?).
I am spreading them as soon as the veggie patch is cleared, which will be after this weekend. The weather guy says this is the weekend for the first freeze. I picked the green tomatoes last night, to ripen inside. We will still have warm days, but the season is over. Six and a half months 'til May...
I leave you with a parting shot of my pumpkin guard dog.

I agree with you on all the above.
Yep, agree on the good stuff about blogging. Must also admit to jealousy of your many hollyhock seeds. Looks like I'm going to have to go up the canyon to shake some out of Kate.
Oh, recieved the loverly iris rhizomes and will plant after snow stops flying. Thank you! Have potted up some feverfew that I will send you when it goes dormant.
Hollyhocks! I love them! They remind me of my childhood! I'm so jealous...I have no garden.
May you have an abundant crop of hollyhocks with gorgeous scarlet blossoms next summer! (scarlet hollyhocks are my favorite!)
I totally agree with you connecting with people far (or close) away... it is so wonderful to get inspiration and encouragement from others.
You are right I joined blogging, thanks to my son Doug, he gave me this computer and said go at it mom, touch the world. I love hollyhocks, we use to have them in our flower garden and I use to put my hands over the flowers and catch the bees and sometimes I was stung. Just coming by to say Hi, I got your site off Kathleens comments, so come on by and say Hi.
I love hollyhocks and everytime I see them I am reminded of a very nice trip to Santa Fe and Taos. Does this mean that you are abandoning the vegetable garden next year? It might be hard for both to live in the same space.
Things I like - getting to know you in a way not possible as "just" a co-worker. Learning about me, through your blogs.
