What I Won...

...from One Good Apple's blogiversary contest!

She held a comment contest, whereby she asked us for our favorite movie quote. Then she arbitrarily chose one, and designed and worked a bit of original embroidery with the quote, about the movie.

Remember the book fair, when my goal was to find The Phantom Tollbooth and The Princess Bride? (that and stock up with reading material for the next year at bargain basement prices filling my insatiable need to read AND save money AND support the Friends of the Library. But I digress....) The Princess Bride is one of my favorite books, and when it was made into a movie, I was pleasantly surprised. It has since become one of my favorite movies and most often quoted.

When the kids were/are around, and were/are taking off on some escapade, they mostly leave with my admonishment, 'You kids have fun stormin' the castle!' At first, the Lovely Step-Children were a bit flummoxed not being as familiar with this movie as my offspring were. What, exactly, was this woman telling them to do...and just how old was she???

This is a very quotable movie...
'Mahwadge...iz wat bwings uhs here todway...'

'IN...CON...CEIVEABLE!'

and the always useful...

'My name is Inigo Montoya...you killed my father...prepare to die.'

Really. I must stop.

So last Friday Wonderful Guy tells me I got a package. Well! It's from Liverpool! (See. I have international readers. I do! Also, where the Beatles first played...but I digress.)

And this is what bounty lay inside.

I am just tickled with the way Emily conveyed the movie and the quote.

Immediately, The Cat Who Would Be Queen was on the table batting at the little pin with the embroidered sewing machine. Silly kitty. It's not for her!

Thanks again, Emily at One Good Apple.

Lovely booty! A week or so before the adventure, the Mr & I were at the grocery. We decided to shop for DVD's for amusement on the journey. They had a 20th anniversary edition which I bought. When I got home, I found that I already owned it on DVD, (after I had already opened the new one). I am getting old....

Congrats on winning the blog contest! See, we are both winners! Princess Bride was one of my daughter's favorite movies and I finally watched it myself last year. Now I see what the charm is. I love Mandy Patinkin!

Storm them castles!
Congratulations on winning.

The Princess Bride is indeed one of those rare cases where you can read the book and still enjoy the movie. I have done both several times.

...to my humble effort. Thanks for taking the time to stop by, and I hope you find something mildly interesting, slightly amusing, barely creative, or at the very least, not too terribly trite.
