And So It Starts...

I recieved the embroidered blocks from Dearest Sister in the mail on Friday. They are the cutie-wootest! She is very good in her vision and with her skill.

Also she is very ahead of me, being done with her part.

Never fear. There are boy characters, too. We are not presuming anything yet!

She has a great post here about our previous quilting adventure for Grandbebe Girl (which I enjoyed reading very much), and I have my 'Q is for Quilt' post here for background on our grand plans.

Anyway. The embroidery, it is done, and now the planning, cutting, piecing, and quilting is up to me.

My plans for the pattern. I starred the one I like. Not complicated, but a little different than the simple nine patch of Grandbebe Girls. (Ignore the numbers. They are not related to anything of import.) Templates at the ready!

The chosen fabric for the quilt, collected mostly by Dearest Sister from her various forays at estate sales, auctions, and ebay. I contributed a few of the vintage reproductions. What would I do without her? Have a pretty small quilt, I tell you!

Fabric washed, tested for colorfastness, and otherwise prepped. I am ready for the cutting.

I am making really good progress on the two knitting projects that are realy stash busters, but jeezopeez, I am talking acres of garter for the one and I am glad to be seeing the bottom of the yarn for the other. I am ready for a bit of a change up. And this will need to be quilted before the weather warms. Seriously. I know myself that well.

So let the games begin!

And now for something completely different...(anyone remember where that's from? I do!)

We have contest winners from three completely random drawings involving index cards, a pen, scissors, and small bowl. See! Completely randomized.

Katarina wins the Pampered Chef recipe books.

Jennifer wins the Steinbach Woole sock yarn

Lizzzknits wins Dena's roving.

Applause applause applause! I really thank everyone who entered and I wish I had gifts and prizes for you all. I hate simply HATE having to pick only a few to win.

What beautiful embroidery and what a loving gesture! (I still have, and treasure, work that was made for me by my grandparents.)
Happy weekend!

Yay, I win! You can contact me a hoskinsliz@aol.com directly. A face to face meetup would be great, but my schedule is so fluctuating that it would be hard to plan. I am currently working on Saturdays, but usually have Sunday. Keep good thoughts for me as there may be a very bright light at the end of this very dark tunnel I have been in. Don't want to jinx it by saying any more.

Oh my! Your sister does exquisite embroidery work. How very wonderful!!! Where does she find the patterns I wonder? What cute creatures. Makes my fingers itch to go back to doing embroidery or crewel work. My work looks nowhere near as neat and precise as hers.

Love the color scheme too of the quilt. Can't wait to see the end results!

The embroidered blocks are beautiful. They're really inspiring and make me want to master embroidery as well.

Monty Python is great :-) My boyfriend got me the dvd-box for my birthday last November. Unfortunatly he doesn't get the appeal.

Okay, not mice, but little badgers and minks. Still cute, even IF they aren't mice!

Your sister's embroidery is just as cute as can be. I'm anxious to see everything put together.

Apparently, crafty creative genes run in the family. Dearest Sister's squares are so adorable. And they go well with the fabric you've chosen. I can't wait to see the quilt.
