I promises photos, and I gives photos...
The pieced quilt, all but the outer edge, which I hadn't decided upon until today...when I found the fat quarters at JoAnns.
'Rocky Raccoon went into the room...only to find Gideon's Bible...'
I fear I shall be singing this song until this quilt is finished. I have been up to this point, anyway.
This shows what the backing will be.
The backing required piecing. Ah well.
Again showing the pattern side of the backing.
And the sandwich is made...backing, batting...
The quilt is only about 10 inches shy of using a whole twin size batting. No crib size quilt here.
And top.
With edging.
Only thing left is a gazillion tiny stitches outlining each piece in green thread.

That sure is a lot of time and effort you have put into the quilt. That is one lucky grandbebe! Nice job.
Wow! I can't believe how fast you put the quilt together! And how neatly. I am truly impressed. I started my one and only quilt in 1979. It's still not finished. I stand in awe of your piecing prowess.
That is such a sweet quilt. Are you going to straight stitch in a diagonal through the centers of the 9-patches and cornerstones? It will help with stability and give it strength through all the washings a child's quilt requires. Remember: the more quilting the better. If you do not want to do all that quilting, then tie it: center block of the 9-patch and in the cornerstones of the sashing. Wool yarn (and I know you have some) works extremely well because after you have made the tie and then wash it the little knots just felt up into these balls that fascinate a baby/child.
Oh, it's totally wonderful!! Perfect for Grandbebe #2! Congrats.
That is a beautiful quilt. Good Job. Happy sewing ;-)darrlaa
You also promised pictures of the "neverending garter stitch."

That is stunningly impressive. Amazing. And, now I've got Rocky Raccoon running through my head too! =D
