...Hair.
And being done with it!
Dearest Sister and myself in our dancing regalia...yes, we danced...and regaled...after a fashion.
What it was way back.Still blonde, but not so naturally.
Solid silver...at least that is my term for it!
I have been growing out FOREVER! Or for a year and a half, at least.
I have a couple of stories about how slowly I believe my hair grows, about the growing out experience, and about my length judging-impaired hair stylist, in these various links.
About 10 days ago, when it was time for a trim, I told my old friend, the stylist, to layer it up, and get the rest of it off. No matter the pain of layers (and I believe them to be a pain), no matter the inconvenience of hair shorter than I like (and it is), no matter that I am helpless, clueless, and inept in any styling on my own beyond...basically what I know....I said 'take it off, take it all off.'
Since that fateful day, it has not looked like the above photo.
I have had many compliments. Alas, I do not feel deserving of them.
I feel my hair is flippy. I feel my pony tail is full of sticky up ends. I keep seeing, out of the corner of my eye, the short ends at my cheeks and think someone is there!
Ah well. A necessary process to the desired end. But I know how long it will take to grow out....

I had an absolutely amazing haircut the last time. I wish that was the case each time!
There are days I look in the mirror and I say to myself, "World, you are just going to have to deal with this today. It is as good as it is going to get" Then I go on with my day. Those are usually in week 4 of my 5week coloring cycle!
My daughter in law cuts my hair. She's a professional and always asks what I want but no matter what I say she cuts it the way she thinks is best. My main request is that it all has to be long enough to pull back in a pony tail but I didn't even get that this time. So I know what you mean about the sticking out bits.
oh yeah, Good Luck with the new job....you'll do great!
Beautiful silver. I haven't been able to let my silver show through yet. I've had gray hair since I turned 25. At 43, I colored it for the first time and have continued to do so ever since. In a few years, maybe I'll be ready to let it be silver again. We'll see.
You know, those black feathery headbands would be fabulous with your new color....
I got my hair cut really short in 7th grade because everybody told me I would look so cute with short hair. I went home and looked in the mirror and saw myself from the side for the first time and thought I looked like a turtle-- I cried and cried; and a cute boy who used to smile at me (a 9th grader) quit smiling at me. It was just horrible! I hate having to get my hair cut-- HATE it! I say I loved Dennis when I first met him because of his thick head of curly hair. (He LOVES to get a hair cut-- he loves the attention!)
I could go on and on with scarey hair stories. . .Tish
What a beautiful colour!
It doesn't matter what I do to my hair, I always look like I've been drinking. However! I started taking Biotin vitamin supplements in January and I swear my hair is now growing twice as fast. Which is still slow as a snail. A somewhat speedier snail...
It looks like you have terrific hair and that it would look good no matter what the length.
How I love photos of you and your sister!
I only ever seem to have a 50% success rate with hairdressers. I guess it doesn't help that I still don't know all the french hairdressing terms yet!
