Here I haven't posted in a few, and here I am less than cheery.
Well, this is me.
For my birthday Wonderful Guy presented me with a nice gift certificate to a local hair/nail/massage type day spa. A very generous gift to a place we have had good experiences with before.
If one recalls, and let me remind one lest one is forgetful (always helpful, I am), right after my celebratories, we traveled to my hometown, then there was the 'procedure', a memorial service to travel to, a vacation, the July the 4th weekend, and now, in preparation for a time when all (yes ALL) the offspring are going to be gathering in our fair state...
..it was suggested to use this generous gift to treat us all to pedicures! Well...the wimmin folk anyway.
So I call to make arrangements for this fun and wonderful idea.
And the phone is no longer in service.
So I drive by, because, I mean, there must be an explanation.
And there is.
Closed up. Out of business. Doors locked.
According to my 'sources', probably within 4-5 weeks of selling the gift certificate.
Just lovely.
I am chapped.

I am soooooo sorry about your experience. The bad economy seems to reach all channels.
Ask me how I know....... Maybe you can locate the original owners and plead with them, or file a claim with the courts. Or get in line for any assets.....
That would really set me over the edge!
I think you should try to identify the owner and see if you can find a phone number and call them. Perhaps there was leftover product inventory that you can swap for the gift card. You probably don't need $150 of bright orange nail polish, but maybe there is a stash of pumice stones and disposable flip-flops. You could get a head start on stocking stuffers!
Sorry about the gift certificate.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and for buying earrings at the Big Well. It is so much fun to hear from people who buy my jewelry. I added your link to my post tonight.
Your b'day wasn't that long ago...it's not like you had stashed the gift for along time ...a good reason to be miffed!! Love, WS
I'm mad too! Find out where the owners are and get a refund! Or, just figure you helped some poor people stuggling to make ends meet who had to go out of business, then you won't be mad anymore, you'll feel like you did a good deed. What goes around comes around, Grasshopperette.
Boo, that sucks! Sorry!!
