It Has Begun

This week we are changing up the looks around chez Irons.

We are painting this hallway (and changing out light fixtures, too!)

We are painting down there, and replacing that carpet.

This entry way will be painted and the carpet changed out, as well.

See way up there?

And that giant high ceiling?

And this one, too?
Well, that is why we are paying the professionals to do the painting. All we had to do was empty the rooms in readiness.
All. We. Had. To. Do.
See that Books I Have Read list over there to the left? Most of those reside on 7 foot bookshelves, one single and one double, that I emptied, we moved to the garage, then I filled back up.
Geez oh peez. I may have a problem.
But maybe not. I did this chore with an eye to sorting through, and some went to the FOL shelf. That's the what I will donate to Friends of the Library, for those keeping track.

So anyway. I am pretty sure about the carpet. Changing out 15 year old pale almost white carpet...can't go wrong with hardly any choice.
But I am nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs about my paint colors.
I am a scientist! Not a designer!!

I think you under-estimate your skills and abilities. Remember all those curtains you showed me that you made? Someone had to choose those colors! Love, WS

You know, paint is actually easier to change than carpet...if you don't like it, you can repaint it! And, after you observe the 'experts' technique, I am sure that you and WG will be able to do it yourselves, next time!

Okay. I love well-designed rooms. I don't have any. It is not my forte. When I go to do something about it, decisions are so hard! I am about to undertake a couple of rooms, so you'll probably hear me whine on my blog. Wish I had the money or the magic wand to just say, "Do it!" to someone else! C

I have the hardest time with paint. I always have that OMG it wasn't that color in the store moment but usually we get used to it pretty quickly. But painting is never fun.

That looks like quite the project! Are you going to share photos of the "after" ?

I can design a garden easy enough but when it comes to indoor projects I'm at a loss. However! I am threatening to do the same thing at my place once the snow flies.

Scientists have eyes and can figure out what colors are going to make them happy. It's not like you're a slug or something. It's going to be divine!

I add my voice to the chorus wanting "after" pictures - how exciting!

Oh there will be in progress, almost finished, and after pictures! Of that you can be sure. After all, I have a snazzy new camera!

And Jan, I think that 'you can always repaint it' philosophy is for the birds! Or for rooms with out 98 ft ceilings and stairwells!

Wow! You have a very nice looking house! I love the railing! Tish (Maybe Den and I could see it sometime-- like maybe next Monday on our way home?!)
