Yoga

Eldest thought that I might enjoy a good yoga class.  A good yoga class…and she spent some time researching and contacting potential yoga people in my town to determine what would be a suitable environ for her mother to be introduced to the healing, strengthening, and soothing properties of the ancient art.
And also hopefully to help her mother quit whining about her aching back, I am sure.

To whit, for my birthday/mother’s day and general health maintenance, she has purchased for me a mat, and introductory classes at a couple of different places around town.

So far, so good. And by good, I mean I have not embarrassed myself nor my family by falling ungracefully splat on my face in the middle of class.

There have been some interesting experiences, but on the whole, I think I am not too bad at this.  The day following the first class, I was mighty stiff, but that went away, and I have not been too bad off since.
Of course that was before spending 20 hours over 4 days in a car, hauling bebes in and out of carseats, hefting and lifting, loading and unloading, all the up and down…
I am enjoying it all to this point, and see myself continuing in some fashion.  I am glad she decided I should do this.  Sometimes my girls are bossy, but what the hey?!  Sometimes they have good ideas!
Also, I have a pattern picked out for a knitted yoga mat carrier.
Don’t judge me!!

Weekend Wrap-Up

The retreat is over and all worked through nicely.  I was apprehensive.  This year I am the board chair.  It will give me good practice to not do things as I have done in the past.  So far so good.  Still alot of work to take care of details that I think are important for things to run as smoothly as I like.  And our board is smaller than normal, so the work is being doubled up.  But we soldier on!

Nothing got scheduled on Sunday! And some catching up got done!

I might be ready for Wisest Sister's visit.  After a trip to the grocery store.  Actually, the trip to the grocery store is necessary before her arrival.  I need lunch fixin's and toothpaste.  That is how behind I have fallen. Toothpaste!

But her room is ready for her.  Just like the Marriott...without the maid service.  Sort of.  Cleaning Gina does come on Wednesday.

Don't laugh.  It's a perk I have earned.  And it helps her out, too.  And that's my story about that.

The biggest thing though?  I got the nine patches for Grandbebe Bean's Quilt pieced.  I have to cut the sashing pieces (pressed and ready) then will piece the nine patches with the embroidered Mother Goose pieces from 'Great Aunt' Dearest.  Of course there are steps after that, but I am just looking at a few at a time right now, to keep from being overwhelmed.  I think it's the best way to get this task finished.

And I think I have decided, once I have this quilt sandwiched, I am going to allow some spinning and/or 'real' knitting to go on the needles.  And by real, I mean, not dishclothes.  Which I love, and need, but oh so wanting to something else!

OK.  I am biking to work, and have to hit the trail.  See how back to the regular routine!

Disaster Narrowly Averted

Wonderful Guy and I have A Morning Routine which involves Coffee.

Immediate Coffee.

I brought to the marriage the idea, nay, the requirement! of three minute coffee in the morning. Yes, we have one of of those on demand coffee makers, that keeps the water hot. We are on our third, the one I had croaked, and the replacement being replaced about three months ago. There is a philosophy that Wonderful Guy has tried to bend me to, that of 'timed brew'. 'Timed brew' reads to me as 'earlier alarm'. I would wake as soon as I smelled the coffee.

And then I would have to wait longer than my allowed three minutes for my first cup.

Unacceptable.

So back to the Morning Routine as it played out this morning. Coffee is brewing, and our mugs are at the ready, mine empty...ready for coffee straight up and black, his with sweetener and creamer...the flavored liquid kind one refrigerates.

Wonderful Guy starts to empty the dishwasher while the coffee brews. See. Isn't he the thoughtful one? And, of course, I am not going to let him do it by himself. I collect the coffee mugs, carrying them to the counter under the cabinets where they live, above the coffee pot, and stow them away.

Coffee done, I decant the steaming elixir to the carafe, and start to pour our mugs.

Hmmm....where's his? I ask 'didn't I see you had a mug ready for coffee?' He replies affirmatively.

Hmmm...where did it go...I open the cabinet...I reach for a mug...and look inside.

The first one I grabbed was coffee ready, with Splenda and creamer.

Thank goodness we don't store our mugs upside down.
