Bunko

I was called upon to play bunko again this past week.  It turned out, after much ado, and after I was already there, that numbers were miscounted, people were confused, and no substitutes were needed.

Hmmm…it would have been nice to not have to get out at all on the coldest night so far of the season.  But as I was already there, and as I had not driven myself, and that they all felt bad, and really wanted me to stay, accommodations were made, and I tag teamed with one player, until another who had a cold left early, at which time, I took over for her.

But while I didn’t play?  I was without phone, Kindle or knitting! But then, The Host asked me if I wanted to look at a new knitting book she had just purchased.  Oh why not...  It was Mason-Dixon Knitting’s Outside the Lines. That cracked me up. I have it (of course) and it gave me a chance to read some I hadn’t read (besides the patterns, I believe MDK to be wonderfully entertaining writing) and scope out the particulars of Metropole.

The other bunko players were a bit confused by the fact that I was okay with my glass of white wine and the knitting book…

And in the end?  I won most bunkos so came home with loot.  All’s well that ends well.

Neighborhood Garage Sale

It's once a year, and a social event for us. It's a chance to get out and say hey to those we see rarely, visit with those we know better, and, most importantly, find some treasures.

A couple years ago I found very little, and last year we sold, so were out of the loop.

This year we had to make three trips back to the house with our loot.

I found hankies, and when the woman asked what I did with them, and Wonderful Guy said 'mostly she stores them in hankie boxes', the nice lady went inside and brought out one which she offered for only $2! It's in very good shape and I know that Dearest Sister is very jealous reading this.

I found other bit and pieces of this and that, some blank journals, a book, a wall shelf, a few bebe items, and potential gifts (shhhhh!). There were also young children selling kool-aid! Too much fun to pass that up.

Wonderful Guy? He found a bathroom sink. Now lest one ponders this purchase ($2) unduly, it's must be known that our guest room sink has long had a chip, a rather large chip in the porcelain, and of recent, Mr. Wonderful dropped glass in his sink and made a small chip there as well.

I wonder which sink will be replaced? The one with the bigger defect? or the one he sees every day?
