I think I might be getting my act together. Maybe. I got my recipe collection (and I use the term loosely) out last night and started filtering. 5 Crisco inserts, all the same....yep, there are definitely some organizational needs there. And yes, I still bake with Crisco. How else am I to bake decent cookies a mile high! On the definite upside of that partially completed task, I found my mother's oatmeal cookie recipe in her own hand!
After spending some time this morning working on the '08 financials in anticipation of taxes (oh be still my beating heart), it's time for a reward.
Fun!
Games!
Prizes!
For the offering..
- 3 Pampered Chef cookbooks...donated by Youngest Daughter who sells the product. Fun stuff. (Pampered Chef cooking stones not required.)
- I skein of Steinbach Woole Aktiv Effekt sock yarn, 100g, 460 yds, 75% wool/25% polyamid. Nice stuff.
- 3 oz of baby alpaca roving...from Dena, the baby alpaca. Soft stuff...very soft stuff.
So let's see. For the winning of these prizes, answer these questions three.
#1 Which would you prefer? (one, two, or three?)
#2 (And because I really liked this last time and was turned on to some really fun sites) What is a blog/site you visit regularly?
#3 (And because I have this on the brain this morning) When will you likely get your taxes completed? Not mailed off...because that depends for me on whether I owe or not...but done. Do you get them done as soon as you get your documents, or are you a procrastinator, always needing extensions?
So there you have it...stuff for the non-knitters, the non-spinners, and...uh...the non-eaters.
I will choose the winners with three random drawings, one for each prize, next Saturday, not because there will so many entries by then, but because this promises to be another full week.
Cheers, all, and happy tax season!

#2/sock yarn, please
http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/
(I love seeing what's considered fashionable.)
Taxes usually get done (by an acct) between April 1 and 14! We procrastinate about getting it all together.
I hope that I can be considered, even tho' I am family. The blogs that I visit are yours and Jan's. I am interested in the cookbooks and my taxes will be done when I get my W2 from CVS (I have my final paycheck for the year, but need their employer ID) Then I will fill in Turbotax and file away! Love, WS
#2, I am such a sock yarn ho
http://simplylibby.blogspot.com/ Because she makes such lovely things and http://with-heart-and-hands.blogspot.com/ for her insight.
Taxes get done by an cpa as soon as everything is sent out and in our hands.
I use Crisco too. It's not only the altitude you have to watch out for but the humidity (or lack thereof). Sometimes you have to add a bit more liquid, hmmm?
#3 the roving - I want to try needle felting as accent on a regular felted item, and I need some roving I can dye little bits in different colors.
my favorite blogger is grace at http://lovincomfortknits.blogspot.com
I usually do my taxes and mail them on April 14th, that has led me to getting extensions occaisionally.

Either #1 or #2 would be great! I don't spin....
Blogs: I love Knitterella and Crazy Mom Quilts.
Taxes? Gosh, who knows. I seem to leave it later than I should so first week of April? Though I would like to get them done in Feburary this year. I do several of my relatives tax returns so it's a pain!
None for me, thanks. I do not intend to take up any new talents like sock knitting, spinning or cooking! I am in the divest mode (except that I did go to Goodwill today and found a few things...mostly books though, and they don't count!) I like Crazy Mom Quilts. She makes me feel inadequate, but her quilts really strike a chord with me. Taxes will be done when the docs are all in. I can't stand the suspense to put it off!
I like #2 Or #3.....I'm easy! As for sites I like, I am loving "The Moth" Podcasts lately as well the "QN", formerly the Quirky Nomads. They can be a bit vulgar at times, but always entertaining. As for taxes, my IRS insanity begins as soon as the forms arrive in the mail in January and end as soon as all the W2's are in, usually by February 15th. I don't do them but DH does and I have to listen to the daily: we are screwed, or we get $$ back this year, until he is satisfied that he has done them correctly. Until I lick the stamp, it never ends.......
I'd go with #2. As for a blog I love, I'd say both http://maria-rose.blogspot.com/ because of Maria's happy outlook on life and http://handmadebyalissa.wordpress.com/ because I'm continual inspired by Alissa's quilting talent.
As for getting my taxes done, as soon as I get my W2's, I mail everything to my brother in law, who is an accountant. Usually everything in done by mid-February. I like just getting it done!
I'd like #1 or 2 because I don't spin yet... maybe one day...
http://canaryknits.blogspot.com/ because she is very creative and I love her stuff and custom creations
Umm, I have to wait for my hubby to be back in march to get our taxes done, so we will be on the last lane to do them this year because he is working foreign in Algeria and it's quite complex.
I like #2 or #3.
I can't recommend Techknitting enough -- great tutorials on minute details of how to get your knitting closer to perfect. http://techknitting.blogspot.com/
And my husband is fabulous about getting our taxes done -- he's usually done in late January, and ready to file by the time we get all our receipts in February.
#2, although someday I'd like to learn how to spin.
Every day I'm either on last.fm or pandora because I can't work without my music on.
I'm still a teenager, so no taxes for me, hehe.
- As I'm a spinner, felter, and knitter, I'd love #3 or #2.
- Lolly's blog (http://lollygirl.com/blog/) is one I really appreciate: it's always very inspiring!
- I used to be finishing my taxes as soon as I had all my documents on hand, but in the past two-three years I've been doing them later, like sometime between only a few days to two weeks before the due date. I'm intending on getting back to my good habits this year though, and doing them very early!
#1. I am a knitter and used to sell PC - so 2 first, 1 next and 3 might get me into spinning so.. 3!
#2. I love Franklin Habit's blog:
http://www.the-panopticon.blogspot.com
He just put out a book of knitting comics but pretty much anything he posts is entertaining and beautiful
or
http://bentobjects.blogspot.com/
This is not fiber related, but creative and entertaining as well.
#3. Not sure because my hubby does them. He's a bit of a perfectionist, so I'd say... as soon as he gets all the documents.
His website is also really neat - he's studying plaster, so if you'd like to look at another type of creativity:
http://www.michaelplauer.com
I'm learning to spin, so #3 would be awesome. Such great prizes, thanks for doing this! :D
I enjoy http://lykkeogloekker.blogspot.com/
Not just because she's a friend, but also because she's always knitting something beautiful and creates such great designs. (It's a bi-lingual Danish/English blog.)
Taxes...totally depends on mood, but usually get them done early and sometimes even send them in then too! LOL

As an addicted sock knitter, I would prefer #2 - the sock yarn! :)
I love reading Blue Yonder at http://blueyonder.typepad.com for her adventures in raising children.
The taxes will be done with less than a week before the deadline in absolute panic as always! :)
N
I visit Grace at Lovin Comfort Knits daily.
I like #2..I don't spin and have alot of cookbooks
and....as soon as the W2's get here. I have my long form deductions already on a spreadsheet and am ready to go.
that sock yarn looks gorgeous from here. of course, i'd have to see it up close, in person, to be sure...
i read journeymama's blog obsessively. i'd post a link, but i'm nursing a baby to sleep and copy/ pasting is hard with one hand.
i'll do the taxes in march, so we get the return in time to pay the house insurance with it. fun, no?
