At the risk of sounding like my mother, and Favorite Aunt, I will give you a local weather update. Yesterday was wonderful. Typical of this area, we had sunshine and 60 degrees in January. And today, 30 degrees and possible snow flurries.
Wonderful Guy and I took advantage. We headed up the mountain.
We saw herds of beasts. Mountain goats, big horns, and these guys. Elk. Lots of elk.
Having taken Eldest Daughter and Lovely StepDaughter to Rocky Mountain over Christmas and having visibility very limited with very low temps, it was a different experience. There was some breezes...sometimes strong breezes depending on what exposure...but we were in sweatshirts yesterday.
Long's Peak
Aspen shadows (getting all artsy!)
Frozen creek shot, with mountains in background...
Bare aspens
While we drove, Wonderful Guy and I talked about the goals, dreams, and aspirations for the coming year. We discussed possible travels and house projects and what we each hope to continue as personal efforts. We talked about this years hiking, and a possible motorcycle RIDE.
I realized again how much gratitude plays a part in my daily ritual. I have dearly missed my exercise routine in my recent recovery period and look forward to getting back on that wagon. Additionally I hope to start biking to work by the first of May again...at least.
I have some technical goals regarding photoshop, and getting some music cd's copied to my computer. Trust me. I needed to put that one out there for some accountability. My recipes could use some organization, too. There is alot more to both of these little tasks, but I won't go into right now. Suffice it to say sometimes things loom large on my horizon because I see things as organized 'just so'...and until I have enough time to do it upright, stuff just sits...and collects....mostly dust.
So anyway...we went up the mountain yesterday. And I got no rummaging done to see what I might have for a contest. But I have some ideas. I have 3 Pampered Chef recipe books from Youngest Daughter (who sells that product), and I think I will donate both some yarny and fibery goodness from the stash. I don't know if I will give it all as one prize, or make it 3 prizes.
Any ideas?

Sound like a good way to start the year. Love, WS
What stunning photos! Talk about a beautiful start to 2009!
Beautiful photos and great goals! I'm wishing you the best of luck.
I love Estes. I had a Park Pass last year and drove up practically every other weekend. Alas, it has since expired and I cannot quite afford to replace it.
Yet.
Good luck with the goals! Yay for contests.
I know the feeling about not starting something until the resources(time, mainly - and energy)are sufficient to "finish the job". Today, A and I emptied 5 boxes, though!! Big ones!!
Your picture are so beautiful! So many of my friends are shore peoples I love the mountains!!!
Mountain goats? Really? I've seen many bighorn sheep in RMN but never mountain goats ...
There sure isn't much snow up there for this time of year! I've always loved that view up the valley.
Your images are beautiful!
The holidays are a great time to reflect on life, and to get in touch with dreams and aspirations, aren't they? Belated Happy New Year wishes to you. =]
